Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how HomeHelp Direct works. If yours isn’t here, send us a message.

What is HomeHelp Direct?

HomeHelp Direct is a request service for plumbing, cleaning and moving in Brooklyn, Monsey and Lakewood. You send us a short request and we pass it to a local professional who handles that kind of work in your area.

Do you do the work yourselves?

No. We are a referral service. The local pro who contacts you does the work, and the arrangement for the job is between you and that pro.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the job. We don’t set prices: they come from the quote the pro gives you after hearing what you need. Ask the pro what the quote includes before you agree to anything.

Is sending a request a commitment?

No. A request is just a way to get a pro to contact you. You’re free to decline a quote and look elsewhere.

How quickly will someone contact me?

We aim to pass your request along quickly, but we can’t promise a specific time. How soon the pro calls depends on their schedule and how busy they are.

What areas do you serve?

Brooklyn, Monsey and Lakewood. If you’re nearby you’re welcome to send a request, but we can’t promise a pro is available outside these areas. See the service areas page.

How are the pros chosen?

We work with local professionals in each service and area, and we pass each request to one who covers your location and the type of job. We don’t do the work, and we don’t guarantee any pro’s work or availability, so please ask the pro about their experience and what the job involves.

Are the pros licensed or insured?

We don’t verify licenses or insurance on your behalf. If it matters for your job, for example a larger plumbing project, ask the pro directly before you agree to the work.

What information do I need to give?

The service you need, your city and a phone number so the pro can reach you. Your name is optional. When the pro calls, you can add details about the job.

What happens to my details?

We use them to handle your request, which means passing them to a local pro for your job. See our privacy policy for the full picture.

What if I have an emergency?

HomeHelp Direct is not an emergency service. If you smell gas, see smoke or have serious flooding, contact emergency services or your utility first. Use a request for jobs that can wait for a callback.

What if I’m not happy with the work?

Raise it with the pro first, since the job is an agreement between you and them. You can also tell us through the contact page, and we’ll take your feedback seriously, but we can’t resolve disputes about the work or the price.

I’m a plumber, cleaner or mover. Can I join?

Yes, you can apply on the Join our network page.
